I have a QNAP NAS, and my friend asked if he can buy his own HD to add to my NAS to host his own PLEX server, rather than adding all his films to my PLEX.
We think this is a better solution, but is this possible?
Can I host multiple PLEX servers on one QNAP NAS?

if your nas is beefy enough you can run plex in a container or vm
for the sake of redundancy..dont put the media on a single disk..but in a dedicated share

Also, be aware that you can't insert a HDD containing data into an internal NAS drive-bay. The NAS will format the drive before allowing it to be used.
So, if your friend already has a drive with data, connect it as an external drive (USB, eSATA, etc...)

@OneCD
Thanks for the advice! If we do it I'll have him buy a SSD that fits my NAS, because I have TBS-453DX, so it only accepts M.2 SSDs anyway.
@dolbyman
I see! I will try and do some research on running plex in a container or vm.
What do you mean with "a dedicated share" ?

@dolbyman
I jsut checked the QNAP OS
Do you mean create a dedicated volume for him in my storage pool?

no..a share...a volume would work too but too much effort and effectively managed the same as a share (from vm or container view)

QTS -> Control Panel - > Shared Folders -> Create a new share specifically for your friends plex share.
