Hi.
I have a 872XT. I'm sharing an FCPX library with my editor, he downloads & opens it, but the proxy files do not link, it saying 'modified media' even though the proxies are in the library package & nothing has changed.
If I zip the library before I put it on the server, and he downloads & unzips it then it works fine. Is something set up wrong? I'm guessing it's something to do with permissions but I can't work out what.
Can someone help please? Thanks.
FCPX permissions issue?

Re: FCPX permissions issue?
where does the qnap nas come into play here ?
hope "sharing" does not mean exposing your nas to the open web ?

Re: FCPX permissions issue?
I put the FCPX library on the NAS, connect to internet while my editor logs in & downloads the library, then I disconnect.

Re: FCPX permissions issue?
I hope via vpn only..exposing the nas directly to the web is a BAD idea
something like this (or worse) can happen

Re: FCPX permissions issue?
No. I set it up with his ip in the settings. I'm installing firewall between the router & NAS but I should set up a vpn too, directly installed on the NAS? Sorry, not my area of expertise but I'm aware it shouldn't be on the internet unless nessecary. If you have any links to tutorials on this it would be helpful.

Re: FCPX permissions issue?
vpn should be setup between user and firewall
do not expose any part of the nas to the net ...maybe get some expert consult help to look at your setup
you dont want all your workfiles held ransom for crypto
e.g.

Thank you. I have someone to help but the firewall hasn't arrived yet. I'll read up on VPN and find another way to share for now.

Re: FCPX permissions issue?
Hi, can anyone please help with this? I've been doing some more experiments with my 872XT:
- If I download a FCPX project via a T3 or 10G 'network drive' connection I have no issues
- If I download a FCPX project via a browser login through File Station, the proxies do not link, it gives a 'modified file' warning when I open the project.
Is some sort of advanced permissions issue for working over a network?

Re: FCPX permissions issue?
Hello again. I've worked out what is happening but I don't know how to fix: I've compared the original library to the library downloaded via File Station, for some reason the FCPX library that I've downloaded over a network via File Station is changing the Alias files in the Original Media folder that point to the proxy files so it can't link.
Does anybody know how I can fix this? Thanks.
