Stumbled on this post on reddit.
After trying to push ads on webGUI now this?
Does QNAP have a new manager or something with all those new bad ideas?

Beware of "Premium" Features in upcoming QTS App Updates
Entered the NAS world with a TS-251+ in December 2016. As of December 2020, disks are now used in a TS-253D.

Ha! Had looked for it but not there... I think it fits better here for everyone to know. Let's see what people think.

Re: Beware of "Premium" Features in upcoming QTS App Updates
when I saw that Qsirch might be a feature that is charged for monthly - I wondered - "gee - if I get billed every month, does that mean that the feature actually has to work ?".
Because Qsirch does not work with large amounts of storage (greater than 50 TB). Maybe the "new" version will. But will I still get billed ?

29.95 for the premium version - this is crazy. If they had a pricing model for number of users, possibly sort of OK, but moving to a paid subscription is very unfair. QNAP is targeted at both the professional but also home market. Who is going to pay over 350 per year for this application? Crazy???

Re: Beware of "Premium" Features in upcoming QTS App Updates
So disappointed with QNAP. I ofund out they went "Premium" on qFiling and also qSirch too? What is next? Will all the qApps move to a LITE version? If you want the features you always had you will need to pay a monthly fee? If so I am going to go out and buy another competitors product and stop highly recommending QNAP as I have for over 8 years!
Happy NAS Day!

I also updated to qfiling 3.0 and qsirch 5.0. I removed them and installed an older version found on the app center.
