share one VM between two PCs ?

Post by buggz »

Hello,

Hope everyone is safe and healthy.

I have some questions about Qnap Virtualization Station.

I have a 64GB RAM TVS-872XT, I am using the TB3 link on one PC, and Ethernet on the other.

- is it possible to share a VM between two different PCs ?
Can this be done with two different link methods?

- I'm guessing you cannot share the same VM between two PCs concurrently ?

I guess share is the wrong word?

I want to build a VM on either PC that is connectted to the NAS, and be able to start the VM from either PC.

AND have the VM be able to access the NAS shares.

This is my current setup.
It is working, but is really slow on the html viewer updates of the VM when BOTH PCs are online at the same time.

I am looking for a better solution.

I also don't understand why the forum message attachments work sometimes, and other times do not work.

This forum doesn't handle attachments well. :(

Suggest using an external image host.

so the VMs running on the PC..ist the image hosted on the qnap then ?

NAS would be accessed via network shares..same as from your regular computer

hypervisor on the pcs would be of your choice ....virtualbox should be able to start up a vm image on either pc...just not at the same time

Yes, I am using Qnap Virtualization Station, and HD Station.
The VM is on the Qnap.
Seems to be working, all three can start and run the VM, just not at the same time, of course.
Though, the web interface of the VM is really slow when both PCs are connected to the Qnap.
It is okay otherwise.
