In order to reduce risk, when I need to share files, I normally use Google Drive.

Re: How do I share my photos over the net to friends
Many thanks, have taken that in.
The only onesI am giving access to the NAS, will be my close family.
I have an Easy SSL Certificate on my Qnap Cloud address but would like one or it on my IP # as well.
Also if it makes it safer from hackers on the net, I would like a VPN on the NAS. I do have a VPN account for my phones where I can choose any country etc., but not sure how to set this up on the NAS.

Re: How do I share my photos over the net to friends
You are going to run a VPN service on your network so your IP Vanish or whatever isn’t going to work here. Options are to use a VPN capable router, Open VPN on your NAS, a dedicated appliance or a diy installation on something like a Raspberry Pi.
I chose the last option for reasons of cost and flexibility and run piVpn with Wireguard on a 2Gb RPi 4.

Wo..
Took a look at the Rasberry Pi.
What a groovy little gadget !
Is there a tutorial I can follow to set it up for what I need as a VPN ?
Thanks for the head up on this.
