Another TS-453 Pro user here with the identical scenario. Unit is dead. I did contact QNAP but they were no help and suggested buying another unit. I did point out the many users having the same issue, however the rep said they were "unaware" of this being an issue.

Same problem here with my TS-653 Pro.

Got an email telling me: [Hardware Status] System fan 1 failed.

Fans and NAS were running fine but I shut it down and now my NAS is stuck in Boot.

Will try to reboot without disks and contact QNAP if it's not working.

Seems it's far from a coincidence as it's happening to so many of us at the same time... QNAP has to answer us with more than "buy a new one"

Update:

I opened a ticket at QNAP support, describing the issue and which LEDs were on when starting without disks after unplugging the power plug for an hour.

QNAP answer:
"This seems to be a motherboard or a back plane problem.
Unfortunately this unit is EOL End Off Life. So there are no spare parts available anymore at our RMA department.
But if you purchase another 6 bay or more NAS you can just install your HDD's in that other system and start it up."

When I told them about so many owners having the exact same issue at the same time the answer was: "I'm very sorry for you this happend with your NAS. But the TS-X53 series is one of the most sold models worldwide."

Sounds like planned obsolescence to me.

I encourage all of you having that same issue to contact them, mentioning that forum thread. Perhaps they may react differently.

I will live with my backups for a while, checking if something changes. If not, I'm far from sure my next NAS will be a QNAP

Regarding the new cases did these occur shortly after a Firmware Update?

I got a mail with a QNAP Trade-in Programme yesterday.

Unfortunately too late since I already bought a new NAS.

First trade-in Programme I was ever informed of so I wonder if it has to do with my support tickets.

Do you mind sharing a link to that trade-in program? I didn't get it and can't find it doing a web search.

Thanks

Another here. TS-453 Pro fell off the network 20200822, found it with fans running hard and SYSTEM BOOTING on LCD. No recent firmware updates applied.

Had been rock solid up until this point.

Turns out ue to the fact that because my 'System Rebooting' does nothing and that I do not hear any beep sounds when restarting the NAS, that my motherboard is shot and I need a new NAS. Does anyone know how to fix these perhaps?

Another one here. TS-453 ... SYSTEM BOOTING >>>>>,,,,

Turned off NAS, Removed drives, Turned it back on without drives.. NO luck.

Now I have all our data sitting here on raid 5 drives.. not sure what to do.
Looking to take the drives out and insert them into a SYNOLOGY, after purchasing it... Can any one forsee any issues with that... ?

I really do not want QNAP after reading this thread any longer.

Yippym wrote: Tue Jul 14, 2020 8:14 pm This topic is starting to sound like an Intel Atom C2000 bug, the CPU in the TS-453 Pro is the J1900 that is based on the Silvermont Architecture.

The Intel Atom E3800 series started to have issue of boot after long usage https://www.servethehome.com/another-at ... vli89-bug/
This is exactly what it sounds like. I have a NAS made by another vendor that has a C2000 CPU.
Last week it wouldn't start up and has nice flashy lights indicative of the known problem. It's well out of warranty. I knew it would happen eventually so there was nothing critical on it.
