I did search youtube for combinations of the words eevblog, bigclive, qnap, mosfet, backplane etc, but could not find what I hoped to find.
If you have a link, please?

Thanks, but there may be a misunderstanding between us (?) None of those videos shows how to identify and replace a defective mosfet on a HDD backplane.
Maybe such a video doesn't exist?

Dear all,
I'm planning to buy a QNAP TS-1253BU equiped by an intel celeron J3455.
Could you tell me if this model is affected by the LPB Bug ?
Regards.

Dear dolbyman
Yes I know but I want more return about this subject. The 1253BU is very expensive and I want to take the best decision.
I know thaht you have a 853BU and it work like a charm. I already want other person with a J3455 to have more return.
Thx.

You have confirmation that the silicon in Apolla lake is NOT suffering from this issue ... there is not more confirmation than this
Also you got info that the device you are looking to buy is not current anymore and will go out of support (software/parts) sooner than an actual current model

Re: [How To] Recover no beep / dead Intel based Qnap x53/x51 (2014~2016?)
The booting problem is due to a default in the Intel integrated circuit, more precisely in the clock part.
There is no way to replace the faulty Mosfet.
The "resistor fix" is a turnaround that generates back the clock signal.
Some people says that if the faulty Mosfet completely die, it could be possible to have a more complex fix by installing a clock generator (25MHz if my memory is correct) and inject this frequency (solder the clock signal wire) to the correct pin of the Intel chip.
But as far as I know, nobody has implemented this solution to date: perhaps because the "resistor fix" is still operational on the "repaired" devices, or because it is a bit more complex, or because the persons owning a faulty Nas have preferred to buy a new model (?).
But anyway it is an interesting solution, probably not so difficult to implement for a person with a bit of soldering skills...

Re: [How To] Recover no beep / dead Intel based Qnap x53/x51 (2014~2016?)
Can anyone highlight where the 100-ohm resistor should be soldered on the TS453 PRO?
I brought my faulty unit into work and gave it to our tech who was happy to do it for me, however, I gave him the LPC-CN1 instructions I got from here, however he said when he opened my unit up, the LPCCN1 is unused? Do we have to solder a header pin there and then go from pin 1 to pin 8 or 10?
Apparently, he did the same fix for a colleague's Synology and it was a bit different. So I thought I'd ask just to be sure.

I have provided the link to a detailed diagram in my YouTube video, in the comment part.
Go to YouTube and search for "how to fix snap TS-x51 boot problem "
There is a direct link for downloading the diagram on my www.threshold-lovers.com website .
I currently just have my smartphone (vacation) but I will post the link if you don't find the video

Re: [How To] Recover no beep / dead Intel based Qnap x53/x51 (2014~2016?)
I have a TS-853 Pro that has been dead and alive intermittently, had been like that for almost a year.
The last death period is 8 months. Anyway... I did a lot of reading here and I do have a little bit of electronics knowledge, so I gave it a go, rather spending thousands to get a replacement unit.
Unit was 3 red lights, and system booting for hours to days, no change.
So I did locate the LPC-CN1 10 pin which had nothing on it on both sides.
I tried with 100ohm resister using scotch tape, and voila, the 3 red lights disappeared and could hear the beep and the firmware light operating (small PCB board mounted on the mainboard).
So eventually soldered it in, and voila, everything back to normal.
hope the picture helps other users.
