TS-464-4G M.2 NVMe not exists in slot 2
TS-464-4G I just buy and new user for QNAP and first Install QTS
Slot 1: M.2 WDBLACK (wds100t3x0c) 1Tb SSD NVMe >>>> Detected
Slot 2: M.2 WDBlue (wds100t2b0c) 1Tb SSD NVMe >>>> Not Exists
Is it normal that my M.2 slots on my TS-464 can only see the first slot?
I have tried using both slots and swapping them, but only slot 1 is visible.
I also tried removing the M.2 from slot 1 and using only slot 2, but it doesn't show up at all.

Re: TS-464-4G M.2 NVMe not exists in slot 2
For starter, neither of your drive models are listed as compatible: https://www.qnap.com/en/compatibility/? ... tegory=ssd
That being said, best to open a ticket with QNAP.

Thanks Diwiwi for the info, I'll try to find the M.2 listed as compatible and test 2 of them at a time.
Although I still don't understand that slot 1 is visible but slot 2 is invisible. to succeed

Re: TS-464-4G M.2 NVMe not exists in slot 2
Hello,
I would like to please suggest:
Use the SSD Manufacturer's drive utility (please see links below) to:
Download Software, Firmware and Drivers for WD Products
For quick reference:
I welcome you to please follow-up herein to advise as to whether or not the "Secure Erase" and "Firmware Update" resolved the problem you experienced where, upon initial installation and boot, the QNAP NAS failed to recognize certain SSD(s).
Hope this helps!
Best regards,

I would like to please suggest:
Use the SSD Manufacturer's drive utility (please see links below) to:
- "Secure Erase" the SSD(s) to return the SSD(s) to brand new OOB ("Out Of Box") condition.
- Check for the latest Firmware and install the newest version available
(If already up-to-date, no further action is required with regard to the firmware.) - After doing the Secure Erase and Firmware Update, the next step is to:
(3a) Power-off the Windows PC.
(3b) Physically uninstall the updated/OOB SSD(s) from the Windows PC.
(3c) Physically install the updated/OOB SSD(s) into your powered-off QNAP NAS.
* Important: please be sure to keep the SSD(s) in OOB condition: do not format nor create any partition. - Last step: Boot your QNAP NAS and check for proper functionality.
Download Software, Firmware and Drivers for WD Products
For quick reference:
- Datasheet for Western Digital WDS100T3X0C WD_BLACK SN750 NVMe SSD
- Datasheet for Western Digital WDS100T2B0C WD Blue SN550 NVMe SSD
I welcome you to please follow-up herein to advise as to whether or not the "Secure Erase" and "Firmware Update" resolved the problem you experienced where, upon initial installation and boot, the QNAP NAS failed to recognize certain SSD(s).
Hope this helps!

Re: TS-464-4G M.2 NVMe not exists in slot 2
After opening the ticket Here are some recommendations from QNAP.
1. Install Helpdesk (App).
2. Click “Diagnostic Tool” and then click “Download Logs.”
3. Click “Download.”
The log files start downloading as a ZIP file.
After that send it to support when answering the ticket.
(If anyone encounters the same problem You may send this zip file at the time of ticket opening for quick analysis.)
About 1-2 days, I received an answer that it was caused by hardware to return to the distributor.
I got a new TS-464-4G from my supplier now.
After testing, it can see all 2 M.2 slots and all 4 M.2 (WD-Black, WD-Blue, Corsair) even though they are not on the compatibility list.
Thanks to everyone who suggested Every suggestion gave me ideas.

Re: TS-464-4G M.2 NVMe not exists in slot 2
Hi All, First post so be gentle !
TS464 running QTS 5.01 latest
I am now on my 2nd TS464 and it is showing exactly the same fault on this one as the last one. As described by others i have 2 new NVMe cards and have put these in my NAS and only slot one is showing, slot 2 shows nothing. Shutdown, swap and reboot and slot 1 shows fine and still nothing showing for slot 2 ! tried this several times, SSD in just slot 1 - fine, just in slot 2 - nothing, etc.
Raised ticket with QNAP and they said device needed slot 2 repair and so i sent it back but this is now another new device from another supplier with the exact same symptoms so i am thinking its not a device issue.
The memory is Crucial CTP500P3SSD8 - which i know is not on the list but it works in slot 1, nothing in slot 2 and the spec of both slots is the same.
Help please .....

Re: TS-464-4G M.2 NVMe not exists in slot 2
Opened a ticket and QNAP want me to RMA the device back to them for repair. Is it really the case that i can get 2 devices from 2 suppliers and they both have the EXACT same issue with them? am i just unlucky or is there a bigger problem with these slots out there?
I am in two minds about the return as i have to pay the posting cost and do i really need the pain of the return and then setting up again for slots i might not use as my needs are not that great. Maybe i should have just stuck to synology as my 3 year old device has never skipped a beat !!

Re: TS-464-4G M.2 NVMe not exists in slot 2
I just received my TS-464 today and I am having the same issue with the M2.2 slot. This would appear to be a common fault.
I have opened a ticket with QNAP.
I don't seem to have much luck with M.2 slots - My MSI B550 Pro MB had the same issue with one of the M2 slots not working

Re: TS-464-4G M.2 NVMe not exists in slot 2
Just a quick update. I sent my ts464 back to qnap for investigating and they are sending me a new device, I will update if it works on arrival.
What is interesting is that in RMA details under fault it says "within affected range" I take that as meaning there is an issue with a batch or range of devices. I might be wrong, it's just how I read it. If you never used the 2 nvme slots you would never know.
This will be my third device to set up in as many months, while I appreciate the practice if this does not work it will also be my last !
