Ts 133 disk is full. How to upgrade?
Hi. I have a ts133 NAS that came with a 4TB drive but it is full and I want to swap it with a 12TB new one. This NAS uses 1 drive only. How do I do this without losing the files that already are on my 4TB drive? Any tutorials anyone could point me to will be greatly appreciated.

Backup outside of the NAS, re-initialize with a larger drive, copy data back.
Not sure there are other solutions..

No, there is no other option.
BTW: when using a NAS with only one disk a backup is mandatory.
The same, when using a raid!
See last link in signature.

A raid is never a substitute for backup! Never!

Buy a TS233
Setup TS233 with new drive.
Backup/copy the data to the TS233.
You would have the option of either raid or a second hard drive/volume.

If you buy a two bay NAS, you can move over the single drive and convert it to RAID1 (then upgrade it with yet another larger drive)

@dolbyman
Yes, you could move the drive to a new 2bay and convert to raid 1.
However, you would not get any more space until you replaced the 4TB drive with a second 12.
This double conversion/rebuild process would also take a long time.

I said said that you need to replace both drives ...
In any case, a backup is mandatory .. sadly a realization many people only have after it's too late

My point is it I would not move the old drive to the new NAS.

I understand, but if you move the drive over, you can expand to RAID1 and expand capacity without interruption
Anyways .. the OP has never said anything else than initial post .. so pretty sure it's futile to speculate on OP's behalf
