Don't verify again for this device (2 step verification)

When I enable Don't verify again for this device it keeps asking for authenticathor code.
I Am using QTS 5.1.0.2444

I never had this Issue when i Used QTS 5.01
I am using Google Chrome there are no restrictions concerning cookies.
Even with Windows Edge having the same problem.

I wonder if other users are experiencing the same problem.

If you find bugs, best to open a ticket with QNAP.

Also make sure you never ever ever expose your NAS to WAN, only thing that 2FA on QNAP does, is inconvenience you..a hacker would just circumvent it and still hack your NAS

This has started recently for me as well. All of a sudden constantly asking for 2FA. The login screen UI looks a little different in general. I haven't updated my system recently but there seem to be several new changes, like a new QNAP cloud button in the top right hand side of the UI and other layout changes here and there. Container station got updated without me telling it to. Automatic updates are turned off for the system in general.

I don't really remember running the update to QTS 5.1.0.2444 on 6/29 like it says I must have, or any of these changes showing up then.

I'm no expert but could it by any chance be cookies are being blocked?

i would assume when you tick the "don't verify again for device" it remembers this via cookies i would assume. So make sure you have cookies are accepted at that url.

But if that didn't work, then ya, report to helpdesk :(

I'm having the same problem since last update in August.
Really annoying.
Opened a support ticket in the hope it will have a fix soon.

Same problem on TS-230: it does not remember login even if checked to, nor 2FA. Moreover Bitwarden extension in Chrome does not recognize the NAS url anymore so the login is really painfull everytime now.

Same issue on both my NAS's too! I thought it could be my VPN or the lack of cert for the https address effecting it??

Did anyone else's write speed also drop off the face of a cliff after the update? Mine went from 120mbs to 20mbs at best, after going from 5 to 5.1.

I had enabled 2 step verification but was frustrated seeing two different six digit code numbers every time I opened the app. Entering a code frequently failed the login so I disabled 2 step verification from the NAS. However now I find that it is impossible to log into the QNAP account as it always asks for the 2 step verification. It provides an alternative way by sending an email but the email never arrives. What a mess as I cannot access the QNAP app store to complete the payment and activation of the xfat driver. I have submitted a ticket.

paid xfat drivers are not needed anymore ..at least not for current cat2 devices (they are build into the kernel..hence free)

Check with QNAP support regarding account 2FA

I got a response from the support, they identified the bug and it will be fixed in QTS 5.1.2.2522.
They couldn't give me a release date for this version yet, though.

So we'll have to be patient.

Calculating from the original start date (estimated way-back here), the 2522 release would be somewhere around 12th October 2023. :geek:
