Folders and Files Missing from Volume, but space is consumed
On my QNAP TS-451+, with 4 disks, RAID 6, on one of my four mapped drives, the folders and files are not displayed, but under Storage/Snapshots, the Volume is displayed and 1.49 TB of 3.39 TB is correctly consumed (43.95%). It is a Thin Volume (all are). Volume status is Ready. All disks Health Status = Good. In the affected volume, only @Recently-Snapshot and @Recycle are displayed.
OS: Windows 10.0.19045
QNAP Firmware: 5.1.1.2491
QNAP RAM: 8 GB
Troubleshooting steps:
- Updated and restarted operating system
- Updated QNAP firmware
- Warm booted and cold booted QNAP
- For the volume, did Manage > Actions > Check File System
- Ran Helpdesk > Diagnostic Tool

Re: Folders and Files Missing from Volume, but space is consumed
Additional Troubleshooting: In QuLog Center > Event Log > Export Logs > Browse. The volume in question, "Multimedia", is not displayed among the drives.
In FileStation 5, the volume in question was initially not displayed, but after maybe 10 seconds, it is now displayed, but without an underlying Shared Folder. I am hesitant to create a Shared Folder in case it somehow overwrites the file space that is currently consumed, but not displayed.

I have the same issue.
This is really pathetic, from a firmware upgrade POV. Does QNAP not do any testing?
On my device I cannot access the multimedia share, and the volume I had prior to the upgrade is not missing. I really not keen to lose my data after what should have been a routine firwmare upgrade

I'm working with QNAP Technical Support. No resolution yet, but I'll let you know here is that changes.

I'm having similar issue. Multimedia folder is visible but all the subfolders have vanished. They are all still there taking up space and visible via FTP.

Thanks Gibbylinks. I've never FTP'd into my QNAP. For me that'd be a great workaround to download everything, delete and recreate the volume, and upload again. I'll look into it.
Hours later... I FTP'd into the QNAP and didn't see anything different from the Windows Explorer view. What especially did you do to make the invisible files and folders visible?

I didn't have to do anything, all my folders and files are in the same place, just no longer visible in "File Station" and I can no longer map the drive. I'm using WinSCP to view them.seniorjc wrote: ↑Mon Sep 18, 2023 8:01 amThanks Gibbylinks. I've never FTP'd into my QNAP. Re: Folders and Files Missing from Volume, but space is consumed
Mary resolved my problem using this command:
- du -hax --max-depth=1 => 1.5T data show on ./Photos shared folder
I then remapped the network drive and refreshed the backup.

Re: Folders and Files Missing from Volume, but space is consumed
Update, support staff have remotely logged on to my NAS and determined that the shared drives have become unmounted from the QTS system, although when they have tried to remount they were met with an error message. So my case has been escalated to the development team to look into.Gibbylinks wrote: ↑Sat Sep 16, 2023 5:01 pmI'm having similar issue. Re: Folders and Files Missing from Volume, but space is consumed
Support restored my folders and files from a Snapshot, irony is they were there so did they need restoring? Anyway, sorted now, but would love to know why it happened.Gibbylinks wrote: ↑Tue Sep 19, 2023 2:05 pmUpdate, support staff have remotely logged on to my NAS and determined that the shared drives have become unmounted from the QTS system, although when they have tried to remount they were met with an error message.
