My ,,session" PHP is not available on my website which is stored on my NAS QNAP

Post by daniel.emil »

Hi,

The ,,session" PHP is not available (not working) on my website stored on my QNAP NAS.. Any user that is registered and try to make login do not see that it is logged.. And the script on PHP show that: ,,no available session!"..

The same website ( take it with copy/paste ) is working fine on my local machine.

Can you help me with any advice? I tried to find out with chatGPT but I did not find out how to solved..

Many thank,
Daniel

NAS model and firmware used would be useful

Based on that you could ho with a VM or container instead of running anything directly on the NAS (potentially very dangerous)

NAS model is: TS231-P and Current firmware version: QTS 5.1.3.2578

The website is running ok on my pc, on local. Only on my QNAP NAS is not running ok.. I put a script PHP to see available session, on my NAS it is showing that I do not have an active Session..

Many thanks.

OK ..that NAS is not capable of VMs or containers

Hosting anything public plain on the NAS is a bad idea

hardly any information apart from its working on my PC....

I'm only guessing so

have you enabled the web server on the NAS?

do you have QuFirewall running and blocking port 80/443 or whatever port you have defined as your web server port?

the only thing I wish to put on this NAS is a website with login system in PHP and this is not working.. do you believe even this website is not working on this NAS?

I know that QNAP often lacks extremly behind with php versions and other vital security parts of the NAS..that is why I advise not to run anything directly on the NAS and expose it to WAN

If and why whatever website your try to run is impossible to say, with no info given

Usually the PHP at NAS is outdated and versions behind. Currently I see v7.4.1 in AppCenter, which PHP version is running at your PC?
If a version 8.x is installed, then most likely the outdated PHP at NAS is the culprit.

Avoid doing such things direct at NAS.

May be the installed version, but in AppCenter only v7.4.1 is available. :S
Just checked from acNAS with QTS v5.1.3.
So if PHP is installed from AppCenter, this **could** be the issue.

Never checked, if this app can be installed an will overwrite the inbuild version.

Hi, I installed PHP 7.4 because I used PHP inside my website and I believed will help to run ok the website. I did not know many things about Webserver 8.2.0, does this contain already features of PHP? I made a test before to put this answer and I uninstalled PHP 7.4 from my NAS QNAP, I made few runs of my website and nothing happen, I mean my website did not run properly..
Any other ideas, please?
