if you have no lpc bus header check the fintek superio

My voltage from pin 1 to 8 or 10 is 2.44V can anybody tell me what Ohm (and W) resistor I would need for that and how that is calculated? Thank you!

Wattage is immaterial. Smaller the better so it takes up less room. Resistance seems to be trial and error with most people going for 100 Ohm.

How is that possible? You have a current V and a V you're trying to reach (that's "in spec"), why couldn't you calculate the perfect resistance for the individual case?
I just don't know enough about electronics to do that, but I don't see how it would be trial and error?

Tolerance. In terms of power of the resistor due to minuscule current it’s immaterial. In terms of the resistance needed, the OP stated 100 ohm but as others have said slightly higher or lower works for them. Besides if you measure the resistance with a multimeter you’ll find it’s most likely not going to be exactly as stated anyway, especially if it not a gold tolerance.mcbrite wrote: ↑Sat Nov 11, 2023 8:41 pmHow is that possible? On top a multimeter will be too slow to show the digital signal voltage anyways..you'd need a scope for that

Hello,
I would like to thank you for useful information from this thread that allowed me to FIX my QNAP TS-251 affected by the Intel CPU bug.
Symptoms:
- NAS was no longer responding to web, ssh, ...
- Fan was runing at full speed
- After force reboot all led were on
- Voltage between pin 1 and 8 was 2.4V
Correction:
- I soldered a 100 ohms resistor on two connectors, and plug-in them between 1 and 8
Result:
- My QNAP TS-251 is now up and running
Thank you again for information you provided and that permitted me to fix my broken NAS.
