Hi,

Hybrid Backup Sync is pretty great. However I have an idea in mind to increase the security of my backup NAS. This NAS will be locked up somewhere well away from the rest of my network gear and only touchable by a single MFA admin account. Access will be extremely limited. This makes it the trusted device.

My main NAS will be in a DMZ and accessible as minimally as possible, including via SMB3 from a server in another DMZ that is accessible from the internet.

Would it be possible to configure Hybrid Backup Sync 3 to support the following.

1. One Way Sync to be able to use a remote RTRR NAS as the source of the sync, not the destination. Currently only the local NAS can be set as the source for one-way sync to my knowledge. My plan is to reach into the less-trusted DMZ from the more-trusted VLAN to sync files. I do not want the less trusted NAS to reach out of its less trusted VLAN to make a connection to the more-trusted NAS if at all possible. I want the source of the connection to be from the other direction. I do not currently see a way to do it this way.

2. Be able to set a limit for daily file changes in the One Way Sync job before it stops processing for the session (daily). In my case I would quite literally set about 10 changes max per day. And to be able to configure a notification to notify me if the cap was reached. My data set does not change much and if this was in place, the data set in the backup is greatly strengthened against a ransomware event or mass deletion or similar on the less-trusted NAS. If I needed to do a mass addition or deletion, I would just temporarily lift the max changes rule.

I think this could be a good practice for backing up a NAS for a lot more people than me. Quite often the main NAS will be subject to more connections than the backup device should ever be.
