Wattage used

Post by Jvpix.com »

Hi all, I have a TS-653D. Does anyone have a rough idea of how many watts this nas would use if it had 5 standard hardrives in it and 1 SSD? I'm looking for a UPS for this and I don't know how long the battery on it needs to last. Thanks

Cool thanks I didn't know they had that spec on their site. So I would imagine a router, switch and modem would each be less than that. What do you think?

Hard to say without the model numbers..most manufacturers have the numbers on their websitee as well (and it's also written on the case of the device)

I have the netgear R7200 router. Website specs don't say and neither does user manual. Oh well, I'm sure it's not more than a nas with 6 drives spinning.

It's 12v/3.5a. I put that in a converter online and it said 42 watts. Si that would be the max?

Max power ratings can vary wildly compared to actual usage. Particularly in a NAS, the only way to know how sure is to use a meter device.

Just an FYI, the "online converter" for watts (w) is simply voltage (v) multiplied by amperage (a). :)
12 * 3.5 = 42

The printed value on the power supply is the maximum it is designed to output.

Should be plenty as I have an 8 bay i5 NAS, 2 i7 PCs, a router and some other devices and normally well below 500 and only using 1/3 of capacity on my CP1500PFCLCDa

It all depends on how long you want to run on battery if there is a power failure :)

I use an APC1200 for my NAS, switch, HUE, 2xRasPI but I also use an identical unit just for my ISP router and internal router. I get about 20-30 minutes on the first one and at least 6 hours on the second.
