SMTP erroring out constantly

Hi

So, for years my notifications have been successfully sent to a SMTP server. A few weeks back it started erroring out. I finagled something and it worked for a while now it's bust again. Tried everything. SSL or TLS ports accounts, different SMTP servers.... Sometimes it sends an email or two and then breaks again. Totally frustrating. Even more frustrating is that I get an error message saying "Email has failed" and there is no way to see any more detail on what went wrong! I absolutely HATE the logging of QNAP it absolutely is worth nothing at all (and the longer I use the thing the more I am convinced this is my last one). And you can't even find any proper logs on the command line either.

Anyway, anyone else having these issues or a solution?

Hardware:
TS-873A, QTS Hero 5.2.0 & 5.2.1
