No LAN activity (amber light is out)
Howdy, folks. Been using a TS451 for some years now, and just today the unit lost its mind. I can't access via ping or web (times out) and the amber LAN pilot light is not on. I tried rebooting a couple times manually and when starting the LAN light flickers but then goes out. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
Thanks in advance!

Have you tried another Ethernet cable? Another port on your switch/router?

What NAS model is it? A TS41 does not exist

Yes, just swapped cables and different ports... no bueno.
Interestingly, when I use the front power button to shut down and reboot, the LAN light flickers and the router ports show comm activity, hard lights flicker on startup, then LAN light goes dead... then the whole thing goes dead. Wondering if the board isn't toasted. If so, are there replacements available?

As you just edited your OP to TS451
If your NAS still does not boot, see here

This isn't a solution for me, I have no experience or knowledge of electronics.dolbyman wrote: ↑Mon Feb 24, 2025 3:10 am As you just edited your OP to TS451

Re: No LAN activity (amber light is out)
Assuming the problem lies with the mainboard, is it a drop-in swap and if so, where would I find one? Otherwise, would the below unit be a suitable replacement? It turned out I really didn't need video out, a standard NAS that can run Emby, ROON and other such applications is all I'd need. I could, theoretically, just swap the HDD's from the TS451 to a new unit, yes?

Ok, so I guess I'm back to how to deal with the present situation. Is there at least a way to pull the data off the drives and move it to another NAS?

From your backups?Cincinnatus wrote: ↑Mon Feb 24, 2025 9:23 pm Ok, so I guess I'm back to how to deal with the present situation. Is there at least a way to pull the data off the drives and move it to another NAS?
There are a million posts about how to access your hard drives but I don't see any info about your disk configuration or even the firmware version. THis is important information. Typically, it is not an easy or successful process.
The 2 simplest options are to pay a data recovery specialist or;
Buy a NAS on the migration list and move your drives to the new box.
Come up with a proper backup strategy next time if your data is important.

Recriminations aren't helpful or courteous. If I had access to the information you're asking, I would have posted it to assist, however in the absence of access to the interface that's just not possible. Thanks anyway.

Re: No LAN activity (amber light is out)
It was "recrimination" it was a suggestion so that you do not end up in the situation you currently face, again. It is cheaper to invest in a backup plan so you do not have this issue, again. And, it is also posted for other to "learn" in case they are reading this, and may want to be prepared BEFORE they end up there too. It may sound harsh, but it the truth. You need to consider BEYOND today. Once you get your data back, if you do, you need to immediately plan on a backup plan or you will lose it again and may not be in a position to recover it. Recovery is the first half, backup is the second.Cincinnatus wrote: ↑Tue Feb 25, 2025 12:52 amRecriminations aren't helpful or courteous. The rest of my post still applies. There are ways to get at your data, but it won't be easy, or cheap, or both. Either invest in new hardware or data recovery.
