Hi Everyone,
Hope you guys can help me.
My 12 year old Synology 2 bay NAS final gave up (power switch) a week ago. I had 2x 4TB drives as JBOD (not RAID) configuration in the NAS.
I found a good online deal and went for a QNAP TS-462 4 bay NAS.
I kick started the QNAP by using an old 1TB drive. I have about 70% data across the 2x 4TB drives from the Synology.
Can the QNAP read JBOD from synology? I'm expecting the NAS can read the disk just as if I connect the 4TB drives to a computer via a SATA to USB dongle? Or does NASs in general need to format the initiate the drives before it can use the disk even if the disks were in a JBOD setup in the old NAS ?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Synology JBOD to QNAP with Data
The disks will be erased ..so do not stick them in the QNAP.
Check in a Syno forum, if syno disks are readable with Tools in other OS (Windows will not read them natively)
In the future have backups...even more so if you run single disks that could die at any point.
