Hi Folks,
Wanted to know which NAS you would purchase if you had to decide between the TS231 and the TS228. I am a home user who will mostly access the NAS from a wired Mac. Others will access wireless via their xbox, iphones or ipads. I do have a Smart TV that can access the router/NAS wirelessly, but I'm unsure if accessing the music, photos and video files will be smooth. Something I'd like to try and hope to see it work flawlessly.
Which would you recommend, the TS231 or the TS228?
Thanks!

Me I'd go TS-253A.

Re: TS231 vs TS228
Thanks storageman! I'll drop the TS231 from my possible option. Now onto considering the TS228 or the TS251. My NAS will only be connected using one Ethernet cable since my router does not support link aggregation.
Will the performance (speed) be similar between these two units since there is only one LAN port being used?
Will there be many other performance advantages if I purchase the TS251?
I doubt I'll ever use virtualization or the email server abilities. Transcoding or using PLEX is not something I'm worried about using, but would like to try streaming videos to mobile devices and Samsung Smart TV if it works well. The NAS will not be installed near my TV so connecting the HDMI cable is not going to happen any time soon if ever.
Thanks, Kevin

TS251 vs TS228
I guess I should have updated the subject. I am now considering the TS251 connected with only one Ethernet cable to the TS228. Please list reasons to pay the extra money for the TS251 over the TS228.
I am having a tough time deciding because I will not use the HDMI output, not use the dual LAN ports, not use virtualization, not use email server and I'm not overly concerned about video transcoding or running a PLEX server.
Thanks,
Kevin

Re: TS231 vs TS228
Hi Kevin,
TS-228 has 1GB RAM compared to 512MB on TS-231.
You can also consider TS-231+ and TS-251 for better performance and better encryption performance (helps for HTTPS access).
