Shared folders disappeared from control panel

Post by briodan » Wed Aug 22, 2018 12:27 pm

just finished upgrading to 4.3.4.0675 Build 20180810
and I no longer see my shared folders under Privilege > Share Folders -- see screenshot

i tried recreating default shares but got a message they already exist.
I can use the interface to create new shares, but its not displaying the existing ones so i can manage them.

any idea how i can get them to display again?
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Try clearing the web browser cache.
RAID have never ever been a replacement for backups. Without backups on a different system (preferably placed at another site), you will eventually lose data!

A non-RAID configuration (including RAID 0, which isn't really RAID) with a backup on a separate media protects your data far better than any RAID-volume without backup.

All data storage consists of both the primary storage and the backups. It's your money and your data, spend the storage budget wisely or pay with your data!

This might be caused by a corrupt shared folders configuration that got botched during the firmware upgrade. Just speculation. I don't know where that configuration is stored or how you could verify it.

Have you tried these voodoo procedures that sometimes clear up those post-update issues without reason?
Like restarting the NAS.
Or re-installing the firmware.

Otherwise it might be best to open a ticket with QNAP tech support: https://helpdesk.qnap.com/.

I did multiple reboots to no avail, I’ll try reinstalling the firmware

I assume you're logged in as admin and that you can't see in file station or externally either.
What model is it?

It’s a T.S.-231p
Logged in as admin
The shared folders are visible and accessible from client machines

I just can’t manage them in the interface
I can create new ones but they also don’t show up in the management interface

Try this
https://helpdesk.qnap.com/index.php?/Kn ... d-firmware
Replace "config_util 1" and "storage_boot_init 1" with "storage_util --sys_startup"

9. After update finished and rebooted, you should see the NAS in Qfinder and QTS Web Admin login page in your browser. Then you can re-update to latest firmware version again.
Note: if you don't see share folders and data, it may simply be the share folder mappings need to be recreated.
You can do this by creating a new share folder with the same name as your original shares, or use the "select path manually" option when creating share folder to see all available folders.
I've got the same issue and use "select path manually" option to successfuly get missing folders back:
Control Panel>Shared Folders>Create>Shared Folder>Enter path manually>Select desired path and use the same name as before
