TS-453Be w/4 Gb RAM: CentOS 7 from linuxvmimages

Post by pjbondi »

Hello to all:

My QNap TS-453Be was delivered yesterday. Extra RAM is backordered, so I gotta wait for that. I'm trying to run https://www.linuxvmimages.com/images/centos-7/ CentOS 7.7.1908 - Graphical Desktop Installation

As soon as I start it, the load average (uptime output) goes up towards 150 and the machine becomes unresponsive. I have to initiate a shutdown on the qnap to regain access.

I run 2 Ubuntu VM's with Gui on my 853Bu (same processor as yours) but with 8GB of RAM, they work OK (GUI is horribly slow) but the web-services are snappy.

I have never tried to run VM-Station on anything less than 8GB (my 951X has 10GB)

The above link was for VirtualBox. I've downloaded https://cloud.centos.org/centos/7/image ... loud.qcow2, renamed to img. Created new VM with "Use existing image". And it boots up right away. No problem.

Now I need to determine the root password or ssh key. https://scottlinux.com/2017/05/08/set-p ... ud-images/
