Hello everybody,

I've set up my TS-464 with 4 HDD and 1 M.2 SSD, with the following volumes:
- SYSTEM on SSD (System volume)
- DATA on RAID 5 (HDD1-3)
- NVR on HDD4 (static volume, no RAID)

With this setup in mind, i thought QVR Pro would make HDD4 spin 24/7 while HDDs1-3 would go to sleep when not in use (most of the time, actually). Applications (containers, system etc.) would have used SSD, accessing to disks only when needed. Nevertheless, I'm always seeing all HDDs spinning 24/7, with the debug script output continuously listing accesses to QVRProRecording folder (which actually resides on DataVol1, so SSD): is this a limitation of QTS or did I misconfigured something? Does QNAP let a kind of partial standby of disks?

As long as there is still access to md9 and md13 (spanning on ALL internal disks).. there is never any disk standby .. as discussed in approximately 5.567trillion previous threads

I know md9 and md13 span on all disks and the system writes logs and SMB to these partitions, but my question was related to the case where there's constant activity on one disk, out of any pools or RAID, and no activities on all the other disks, whatever volume organization is setup.

People that have kicked off disks from md9 and md13 have reported disk standby (when access is done to only some disks/groups)
