QNAP to Discontinue Support for Photo Station, Qphoto, and Qvideo

From a QNAP Press release:

I've just been checking the progress of this.

It seems after QNAP published their earlier release stating these apps would be discontinued, they changed it and now state that support for the apps will be discontinued. It further seems the apps will continue to be available for download (QNAP still promote them, and Qphoto is still available in the Apple App Store.)

Might be worth updating this topic?

No, it's yours and I wasn't about to change it without involving you. I'm only letting you know the situation has changed from what we were first told.

Yup, that's why I only recheck on a whim. And this is the only global announcement topic we have, so it gets a little more exposure than the average announcement.

I think the topic still is correct. The meaning of "will no longer receive software updates and technical support for Photo Station, Qphoto, and Qvideo" is that security holes that might be discovered will not be fixed and so using the apps is risky.

Also, "Photo Station, Qphoto and Qvideo can still be used if you download them before October 1, 2023" says pretty clear that the apps are not available any more.

The new topic title is more accurate.

But, I agree: "unsupported" typically means they won't be fixed. Leaving them available for download might not be such a good idea.

Yes, it seems QNAP forgot to update this line when they reposted the news item, as the apps are clearly still available for download.
