Virtualization Station & Windows server 2016 - slowness ( Trimble NOVA )

Post by robynas »

Hello,

In order to run a small SQL database with a specific software I virtualized in Virtualization Station 3 a windows server 2016.

To do this, I use a TS-253 Pro with 8GB of RAM equipped with 2 WESTERN 1000GB on a Raid 1.

I've configured the RAM management according to QNAP's recommendations, with a minimum of 4GB reserved and 8GB dynamically allocated, and 4 cores.

( How to optimize memory usage to improve device and virtual machine performance | QNAP)

The Windows VirtIO Drivers have been updated with the latest fedora pack from September 2023.

The virtual machine is slow (the pointer doesn't follow and windows are slow to open) and I'm getting write speeds of 7 to 17 MB/s when copying and pasting.

However, the machine is not saturated either in terms of processor or RAM, and as I said, I'm only running one program for a small drawing software database / serverProject from Trimble NOVA).

Would you have any suggestions for improving the responsiveness of the latter?

Thanks in advance
