Is there a PCIe 4 (or better) expansion card in the works?

I was looking at the QM2-2P10G1TB, and noticed that it is horribly bottlenecked by the PCIe 3 (x8) interface. Is there a corresponding PCIe 4 or 5 expansion card with at least 16 lanes in the works?

We wouldn't know (community forum) please open a ticket with QNAP for this question

It goes without saying that I don't expect an ironclad prediction, nor do I think that opening a ticket will get me anywhere. What I am looking for is rumors, "heard it through the grapevine" kinda thing. Sometimes these things have been known to "leak."

I'm sure at some point in the future better, faster hardware standards will be supported.

Beyond that, not much value in rumours. New products under development could come out tomorrow, or a year form now.

Is that a rumor? :DD

Anyway, I take it from your reply that there are no rumors currently.

Case closed, afaiac.

QM2-2P410G2T. Thats best you can have Q branded at this time. If that is not enough then go with Highpoint products although i don't know about compatibility with QNAP NAS devices.

Yep, this one certainly sounds better, thank you, but it’s also horribly overpriced. As for compatibility w/QNAP, I am actually looking to build my own NAS form pretty much scratch. As a matter of fact, I’ll be looking for separate cards for LAN and NVMe, as I figure it’ll be a lot cheaper.

Also, know of any mini-ITX mobos with one or ideally two PCIe expansion slots?
