QMedia login issue

Post by GrandMaizer »

Hello guys.
I'm interested in using Qmedia app on my Android TV device.
I manage to log in using the local IP address, but I also would like an option to log in using the SmartURL when I'm connecting from a device
outside of my local network, and for some reason, it's not working. It says, "Login failed."
I use the same login credentials and port, which works with my local IP.
As for the SmartURL, I can access the NAS via browser using the SmartURL, which means the service is up and running.
What am I missing?

Thanks ahead.

Never use any QNAP programs when connecting from WAN (malware infecting your NAS)

If your (unknown) NAS supports containers, put Plex on it and use Plex to stream media to your TV or mobile clients.

Thank you dolbyman for your reply.
I thought the opposite way, that QNAP apps will be much safer :-)
Sorry, I forgot to mention, the model is TS-431P2 and it does support containers with AMIZCloud. This is what you meant right?

No, QNAP apps had many security flaws and even accidental backdoors that resulted on half a dozen ransom campaigns in the last couple of years.

Amizcloud is iust a management tool and not the means of running containers. Sadly an ARM NAS is a pretty bad tool to run a mediaserver (no supported hardware transcoder and very limited CPU support)

See if you can install this
https://hub.docker.com/r/linuxserver/plex
Can't find out if your NAS was ARM-HF or ARM64

Otherwise try this

According to the specs, it’s a 32 bit ARM Cortex-A15 (Armv7-A architecture)

I see that I have Plex Media Server in the app center.
I guess I can download, install and configure?
